Specialist AoD assessments

Social Care Consultancy employ practitioners who are qualified and registered with Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association of Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ). These include registered social workers, nurses and counsellors.

Staff have experience in the acute adult mental health and addictions sector with people of all ages. Having competed a variety of assessments for different organisations, the dual diagnosis assessment tool that we use was developed by Dr Fraser Todd, Dr Doug Sellman and Dr Paul Robertson. It is a tool recognized by the Ministry of Health, ALAC and the Mental Health Commission.

We are happy to discuss potential assessments whether they be for adults or youth with a view to developing a report that is
useful and informative.

Brief Intervention

In 2009, Social Care Consultancy was contracted by ALAC and ACC via Tauranga Safe City to run a Brief Intervention Project. This was for youth under the age of 18 who had been arrested for an alcohol related offence.

Following the success of this first project, in 2010 Social Care Consultancy was further contracted by the Ministry of Justice, via Tauranga Safe City, to run a Brief Intervention Project for youth aged between 17 - 26 who had been arrested for a ‘lower level’ alcohol related offence.

We hope to continue this work on a more permanent basis.
